07.09.2008 RULING ON PAUL BONHOMME IN QUALIFYING

Following post-flight analysis of G-force data by Technical Director Adrian Judd, the Red Bull Air Race Committee has disqualified Paul Bonhomme from the first Qualifying session in Porto.

Due to a temporary break in the data connection during his flight, an analysis of the recorded G-force data was ordered on the ground. This found that Paul Bonhomme had exceeded the maximum load factor of 12 gs, as stated in the Red Bull Air Race Sporting Regulations:

6.1.4.8 Exceeding Maximum Load Factor
The Aircraft have to be operated within their design limits. If telemetry or post flight analysis shows, that the Pilot exceeded the maximum permitted load factor, he or she shall be disqualified.

2. Definitions
Load Factor Limitations
To avoid exceeding the Aircraft’s operating limits, the Load Factor Limitation, which shall not be passed, is 12 gs.

This ruling means that Paul Bonhomme will start in 12th place in the Point One session on Race Day.

It also means that Steve Jones has moved up from 9th to 8th place and will compete in the Super Eights today.
