Glen Dell announces retirement

South African pilot, Glen Dell has announced that he will retire from the Red Bull Air Race World Championship at the end of the 2009 season. After two seasons in the sport, Dell has decided to return to his job as a pilot with South African Airways.

“I was really fortunate to have been given a leave of absence for two years from South African Airways, which provided me with an incredible opportunity to compete in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Although I will certainly miss being part of the sport, I am looking forward to returning home to South Africa.”

“In a short space of time, Glen has made himself extremely popular with everyone involved in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship and he will be greatly missed,” said Bernd Loidl CEO of Red Bull Air Race GmbH.

The full pilot line up for the 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Championship season will be announced after the Qualifying Camp later this year in October.
